I have tried to minimize coffee because of the acid-forming properties of caffein. Now I am wondering if decaf coffee is a safe alternative, or if it is still acid-forming? Thanks!
I do my swim workout in the morning and by the time I get home to have my breakfast it is usually 30-40 minutes from the time I’ve finished my workout. This is outside of the 20-minute window that you suggest. Should I be bringing something small along with me to ingest on my way home, and if so what should I eat. Keeping in mind that I’ll be having a full breakfast when I arrive home.
I keep gaining weight or the most stay the same when I work out hard. And, when I put in a recovery week the pounds suddenly drop. I keep eating the same amount of calories respectively to the approx. amount of daily calories burned. Is this normal? I am 45 years old, 6’2″ tall and weigh 200lbs.
I have recently found that I am sensitive/allergic to corn. As maltodextrin ( I believe) is made from corn do you have any suggestions for race fuel? I prefer gels and am researching and experimenting but it’s difficult to find any. And in most gels that have a mix of sugar, is the maltodextrin amount even enough to worry about?
